These flat, somewhat oval, wingless, bloodsucking bugs which formerly terrorized the traveler are rarely heard of today. Their absence is probably due to better sanitation and effective chemical controls.
Bedbugs are nocturnal in habit and like to hide during the day. They hide in cracks in the wall, bed springs, furniture, etc. These bugs sense the presence of warm-blooded animals and will move some distance for a blood meal.
Ignorance and poor sanitation often permit bedbug infestations to become established in houses. They injure by biting; their role in disease transmission is uncertain.
