Aphids on Roses

Aphids on roses are only one of the several hundred aphids or plant lice that appear on various plants in South Carolina. Aphids are sucking insects and on some plants they also transmit a disease.

Aphids have a rather complicated life history. At times, some lay eggs and then again they give birth to living young. They may also produce progeny without mating, and can produce either males or females under certain conditions. Aphids frequently alternate from one host to another.
