Wax scale is present in a number of locations in South Carolina and may infest a wide variety of plants.
Damage is likely to be severe when the scale becomes numerous. The scale is covered with so much wax that is extremely difficult to control. More precise studies are needed to determine when the crawlers first hatch and before they get a heavy accumulation of wax.
