Green Cloverworm

The green cloverworm may be an inch or more in length when fully grown.

These worms may be noticed feeding on soybean leaves in late July. But the real infestation usually occurs in early to mid-August.

The winter is passed in the pupal stage. Moths emerge in the spring and lay their eggs on leguminous plants, such as clover and alfalfa. They build up on these plants and then move to soybeans. Three to four generations are produced each year in South Carolina.
