Normally this insect is a pest on stored tobacco but may also be found in chocolate, cereals, grains, and flour. Larvae spin cocoons in cracks, etc., in storage bins where they overwinter. Pupation in the spring requires 3-4 weeks with peak emergence in midsummer.
