Pesticide Registration Databases

All pesticide labels accessed or posted on this web page are for reference purposes only. These labels may not be copied or otherwised used for any legal distribution or use of a pesticide. Pesticide dealers, distributors, consultants and users are legally bound to adhere to pesticide labels that are attached or affixed to pesticide containers by the pesticide producer. Any relabeling of pesticide containers must be performed by the pesticide producer or registrant, or by their designated representatives. Use of trade names in this publication/document is solely for identification. Pesticide Registration Databases

• EPA - OPPT Databases and Software - list of databases and software programs produced by or for OPPT (EPA Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics).
  
• EPA Product Database - This site is maintained by the California EPA Dept. of Pesticide Regulation. USEPA/OPP Pesticide Related Database Queries. Has the Office of Pesticide Program's (OPP) 1) Registered and Cancelled Pesticide Product Database; 2) Chemical Ingredients Database (Chemical Nomenclature, Current Products & Registrants); 3) Company Information Database.
  
• Emergency Exemption Database - Section 18e of FIFRA authorizes EPA to allow States to use a pesticide for an unregistered use for a limited time if EPA determines that emergency conditions exist.
  
• National Pesticide Use Database 2002: Fungicides and Herbicides - from the CropLife Foundation web site.
  
• Pesticide Action Network North America (PANNA) Pesticide Database - Contains basic chemical information including uses and chemical classifications and related chemicals; a Chemical Abstract Service; CAS registry number; toxicity characteristics, including acute toxicity; cancer ratings from U.S. EPA, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the State of California, as well as other chronic toxicity information on reproductive and developmental toxicity (California Proposition 65) and suspected endocrine disruption; regulatory status, including U.S. and California product registration; and aquatic ecotoxicity information, including acute toxicity ratings for major taxa groups such as amphibians, fishes, zooplankton and phytoplankton.
          Throughout the web site, information is referenced and links to original data sources are provided. In addition to standard reference information, they also note when the dataset was last updated. For example, most cancer lists are updated only once per year, while new U.S. EPA-registered pesticide products are added on a daily basis. Technical terms and regulatory information are fully documented in easy-to-understand language for the first time user, with links to more in-depth information for the professional.
  
• Pesticide Fate Database - EPA. The information contained in the Pesticide Fate Database may be used by environmental scientists and researchers to describe or predict what could happen to a pesticide active ingredient under various conditions when it is released into the environment. The data are derived from studies submitted by pesticide manufacturers (registrants) in support of the registration/reregistration of their pesticide products.
  
• EPA's Pesticide Product Label System - A collection of TIFF images of pesticide labels which have been approved by EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) under Section 3 of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The collection contains the initially approved label for pesticide products registered under FIFRA Section 3 as well as subsequent versions of labels which have changed via amendment or notification. Please note that the site is based on the product registration number. You must have the product registration number to look up a label (labels are not facimile/sample labels, rather the text that was submitted to the EPA by each manufacturer.) The site does have a link to a database where you can get the EPA Reg. No. if you know the product name.

  NOTE: Pesticide product label images are stored in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). Most labels have multiple pages and require the use of a multi-page capable TIFF viewer to be effectively displayed. While numerous TIFF viewers are available, not all are capable of reading multi-page TIFFs (some viewers display only the first page). Additionally, a viewer with zoom and rotational capabilities is recommended. If you are running Windows, you may have received a multi-page TIFF viewer as part of the Windows installation. Depending on the version of Windows being used the TIFF viewer is named WANGIMG.EXE or KODAKIMG.EXE and resides in the Windows directory.

  • If you have one of the above TIFF viewers, but it is not installed as a Netscape plugin, Netscape will return a message indicating that it cannot find the plug-in. If this happens, simply choose the "browse" option in the Netscape message box, and browse your Windows directory for the file "WANGIMG.EXE" or "KODAKIMG.EXE". Click on this file, and Netscape will install it as a plug-in.
  • If you are using any other operating system or browser, check your user manual or with a technical consultant regarding an appropriate TIFF viewer for your system.
  • If you have difficulty attempting to view a label from within a browser, you should choose to save the label to your hard drive using a .tif extension. You may then view the label at a later time using a multi-page capable TIFF application.
  
  
• Pesticide Data Program (PDP) - USDA Agricultural Marketing Service site. PDP collects data on pesticide residues in food. PDP is now a critical component of the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 implementation.
  
• PDP - Download Data / Reports - This page provides condensed copies of PDP Databases and complete copies of published PDP Annual Summary reports containing PDP sampling & residue testing data for the calendar year surveys 1992 - 1998.
