Resource description: This video presents 5 segments illustrating potential advances in pesticides and pesticide application technology. (1) The use of genetically modified toxins from black widow spider venom as pest-specific insecticides; (2) the use of fly-specific nematodes in baited fly traps in swine yards to control house flies; (3) the use of a green muscle fungus as an insecticide to control grasshoppers; (4) the use of a new in-field spray tank rinser designed to use less water but still do a thorough job of rinsing the tank; and (5) the introduction of a new aerial spray technology, called Micronair, which uses spray atomizers instead of nozzles on the spray boom to create extremely fine droplets for better coverage using biological pesticide agents.
