Pesticide Applicator Training--Safe Pesticide UseAudiovisual Resources for Use in Pesticide Applicator Recertification Training and Pesticide Safety EducationRevised November 2004 |
NEW! Please Note! (6/17/04): Due to budget constraints, video tapes and slide sets are no longer available for checkout through the Clemson University Communication Center Media Library (CCML). You may now request any of the materials listed below (that you do not already have a copy of in your county offices) from the Pesticide Information Program by filling out the following form: Audiovisual Resources Request Form. Use the exact title as listed below.
If you have questions, contact Rachel Rowe
RESOURCES is a listing of video tape and slide set training resources in the areas of pesticide applicator education, pests and pest management, and general entomology. To browse all listings in alphabetical order, use the scroll bar. If you wish to print a single entry, click on the title and a single page entry will be provided.
As many of the resources, themselves, state, the pesticides mentioned, shown, or used in these resources may have had changes made to their labels and/or may no longer be legal for use. Read the label before using any pesticide! Remember that a pesticide may only be used on sites, crops, and commodities listed on its label. Because South Carolina does not have a pesticide collection program, any pesticide ever sold or used in South Carolina, including those no longer legal for use, are likely to be encountered in storage situations.
Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer. Clemson University Cooperating with U.S. Department of Agriculture and South Carolina Counties, Extension Service, Clemson, S.C. Issued in Furtherance of Cooperative Extension Work in Agriculture and Home Economics, Acts of May 8 and June 30, 1914.

Resource description: An important aspect of pesticide application is the accuracy of application. One problem when applying pesticides using spray application systems is skipping or overlapping of pesticide spray on your target site. Skipping or missing the target in some areas and overlapping or double treating in others results in a wide variation of pesticide residue across a given crop. Foam marking systems are a fairly new form of technology being developed to reduce the amount of skipping or overlapping during any given pesticide application. This video discusses the different pieces of equipment that can make up a foam marking system and also different brands of foaming products that can be used to produce desirable characteristics required for a successful foam marking system.

Resource description: This video tape provides information on how the EPA is changing their process for determining risk from pesticide residues found on foods, in drinking water and also where people may come in contact with them in homes and public places. This new risk management process is set out in the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA). The video is divided into three modules. The first looks at pesticide residues and how the EPA is reevaluating pesticide tolerances for all pesticides over a 10 year period. The next module discusses potential outcomes of the FQPA and how these outcomes will affect pesticide applicators. The third provides information on how you can participate in the FQPA decision making-process to help prevent compounds that you need from being eliminated.
